BTC Sports Club has been around in several guises since 1923 and runs a number of clubs based at their ground in Stoneham Lane, Southampton. Dating back to early Port and Railway organisations BTC today is affiliated to the ‘National Association of Railway Clubs’ (NARC). BTC were a founder member of the Southampton Football League (SFL).
BTC has a long history in Southampton, which can be traced back to the original club site which is now part of Ford’s in Swaythling to the move to Stoneham Lane and several planning applications to extend the existing club house built in the 1950s.
With over 500 members, including many employed by Associated British Ports, the Sports Club offers Bowls, Football and recently restarted Pool Club. Although the current ground was originally built in the 1950’s and the buildings are now dated, the sports facilities are some of the best in Southampton.
BTC is also a great venue for hosting events and are in their fourth year of holding Football Tournaments. After another successful year look out for further events 2014.
BTC Bowls section has been going since 1950 when the sports Club moved to its current location and runs 2 teams.
The Sports Club is pleased to announce that the facilities are going through a period of development to enhance the club. These developments are possible because of grants from Sport England and Southampton City Council.
With new indoor Toilets BTC Sports Club will be able to offer a better experience for all patrons. The hard standing for cars will allow football to be played, that would have been called off, due to parking problems rather than the pitches.
Both developments are vital for the long term existence of this volunteer run club and we would like to thank everyone involved. Click here for further details.
